A Japanese-inspired car group that ties North American car culture and clothing merchandise together. With a primarily JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) car collection, Kantetsu brings East Asian influence to its brand and graphics.
The logo’s primary use is for vehicle banners, so the simplification of a brushstroke-inspired font had to be adjusted to best support easy vinyl cutting and transfer. The task was not only to simplify but also to expand the availability of the glyphs within the typeface for future accessibility in clothing and custom banner-making. Each clothing graphic was painted traditionally to replicate the brushstroke font style, then vectorized for use in screen printing, heat transfer vinyl, and the direct-to-garment process.
