In May 2021, I started my exploration into moon photography. Initially, I thought it was as simple as taking a few photos per month of the full moon at its brightest moment. I quickly discovered that time and temperature could affect the colours captured by my camera, so I’d stay outside a little longer each time after that. It’s become a hobby of mine is photographing different colours of the moon, regardless of the freezing Calgary weather.
After 16 months of photographing the moons, I began creating compositions as art pieces for people to enjoy. I think it’s more impactful for others to see a collection of them instead of the original individual photographs. An example of that includes the Total Spiral Eclipse composition I created from the 6 hours long shoot of the moons in November 2022.
